This year through a grant from NY State Education Department, we are able to offer an After School Architecture Club to students in grades 5 and 6.  This 8 week program will introduce students to architectural design concepts and skills.  As a culminating project, students will design their own architectural scale models depicting a place or a scene from a favorite book.  The program supports classroom studies in multiple subjects.

This club will meet on Tuesdays from 3:15 to 4:45 from January 15 to March 12.  Students will have time for a snack before the club.  This program is limited to 12 students.  We ask that anyone who signs up is committed and able to attend every week.

If your child is interested, please contact Mrs. Diaz in the Main Office.

CHROMEBOOKS:  This school year saw the introduction and use of Google Chromebooks by grades 6, 7 and 8.  The advantage of their use is boundless.  In the classroom, students can immediately research background history of the topics at hand.  It reduces the time and stress spent on homework by providing the teacher with the students work in “real time.”  The teacher can monitor the students’ assignments and critique them along the way, guiding the students to properly understand the assignment.  In these days of such sophisticated technology, the students enjoy using their Chromebooks to complete assignments both in the classroom and at home.  The use of these Chromebooks helps enhance our STEM Program.

CENTER FOR ARCHITECTURE:  Our grade 4 students have embarked this year on a new program provided by the NY Center for Architecture “Learning by Design”.   This unique one (1) hour program teaches students theory, planning, and design.  Students use their math and science skills through a hands-on approach to create an exciting atmosphere of learning and again, enhancing our STEM Program. (see attached informational flyer for more info.)

I-PADS:   Thirty (30) new I-Pads have been made available for our students use both in our Technology Lab, and in the classroom.

The excitement is contagious and Holy Angels continues to move forward in providing an excellent education for all students.
